During the breakfast event, Lord focused heavily on cyber defense. He explained that there will be a significant increase in spending in cyber defense and cyber security, based primarily on a $300 million bump-up in the Air Force budget, in addition to the $2 billion traditional IT budget already in place.
The General also said there will be an increased focus on what he dubbed “comms-on-the-move”. Mobile devices are an increasingly important part of the way the military performs critical operations, he said, and must be more effectively – and securely – incorporated into the Air Force IT infrastructure.
